Live for Today
Boo. It’s October.
Now is that Boo to scare you or what the crowd should be doing every damn day? I was going to go with no issues this month but then he started talking again.
First at his Ohio rally he said, “we’re going to win, win big and we’re going to shove it up their ass”. That’s a direct quote from the president of the United States, classy huh? It may be the one time he’s telling the truth because he won big in 2024 and is now shoving 4,5 or 6 dollar a gallon gas up your ass. I dunno how much more winning we can take.
In Nebraska he says Iran can bomb Los Angeles or San Diego. The president says a foreign nation can bomb US cities and what’s the response? Senators and Congress people from California wrote angry tweets.Yep, that’s it, angry tweets. No 25th amendment, no charge of treason just angry tweets. That’ll show him.
Supreme Court justices are butt hurt at the response to their partisan right wing horrific decisions. There’s never been a court this bad in history and now they’re whining because people noticed. Poor Justice Roberts said his neighbors in Maine were mean to him. Alito says he lost friends after overturning Roe v. Wade. Poor bastards, screw people out of rights over their bodies, rights to vote, civil rights and protect crazies buying guns then people aren’t nice to you, well imagine that. Ask one of your owners, I mean donors to buy you a crying pillow. I’m sure they can afford it.
Enough of that, what I really wanted to say this month is Live the Experience. In the past 2 weeks I’ve been informed of Reggie McFadden and Mike Marino dying. Two old comic friends who didn’t make 60. Another friend has been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer while another is losing her battle with ALS. I am continually, sadly reminded that life is promised to no one. These are people of different lives and lifestyles. Some lived very healthy, some average, none of them bad, it just seems random and always unfair.
I’m not working much in October. I was supposed to have knee surgery, but it’s been postponed so I’m doing some fun things, experiences. I’m going to a Rams game in the stadium I’ve never seen, going to see the Knicks in Madison Square Garden. Taking a road trip from Vegas to Monterey with my brother and my dog. These are the rainy days I saved for, I guess. I’m lucky I can do these things. I’m very aware of that, I’m not saying break the bank, but I am saying, live a little, hell, live a lot. A dear old friend of mine, Marlon, a guy I got sober with over 30 years ago, was struck down by lung cancer at 60 years old. He’d had his job for 30 years and was going to travel and buy a new car when he retired. He never made it. That’s a tragedy. Not all the joys cost money. Get up and watch the sunrise or stay up and see the moon. I read that putting the phone down, stopping the doom scrolling will help rewire the brain to feel joy. It has to do with cutting back on stimulation so you can enjoy the little things again.
I’m a doom scroller, time to cut back.
I’m not saying change your life. I mean, what you do is up to you. I’m just hoping you find some joy, find some time, enjoy yourself. I once read that no one has very died wishing they’d worked more. I believe that and I love my job.
Of course, once October is over it’s time to vote. Let’s get some progressive democrats in and hope they make some changes, I really hope they bring some criminal charges but at the very least, some change.
Register and vote. If voting didn’t matter, they wouldn’t be working so hard to stop you from doing it.
Happy Halloween.
